IPOB not behind murder of Enugu APC chieftains– Nwoye

The instant past Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye has actually absolved the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of any participation in the murder of two chieftains of the party in the State.

DAILY POST had actually reported that 2 chieftains of the APC in Enugu South Local Government Area were killed by unknown shooters throughout a reconcilation conference at Obeagu.

Some members of the party blamed the occurrence on presumed members of the IPOB who were enforcing the Tuesday sit-at-home purchased by the pro-Biafra group.

Those killed include the Assistant State Youth Leader, Comrade Kelvin Ezeoha, and another chieftain of the celebration, Chidera Ogaba. The gunmen abducted Mr. Mike Ogbonna, who is the party’s factional city government chairman.

However, speaking during a press conference in Enugu, Nwoye declared that the killings were politically encouraged.

Nwoye, who might not hold back his feeling, stated “I am saddened, and truly deeply ravaged.”

The previous chairman stated he was distressed that the deceased APC chieftains were in the conference to make peace as directed by the nationwide management of the Party when they were killed.

He revealed that the Senator Abdulahi Adamu-led national reconciliation committee of the Party had actually directed the warring APC leaders in Enugu State to go home and make peace, adding that the conference which declared the lives of two Party members was convened in the spirit of the reconciliation.

“It was in the spirit of reconciliation and attempt to enthone peace in Enugu APC that these boys and believers of true democracy lost their lives, paid the supreme price.

“Like I stated, I am deeply saddened because what happened on Tuesday would not have actually happened if we had actually not agreed to sit down and talk about in order to make peace,” he stated.

He insisted that as far as he was concerned, the attack was simply politically inspired, worrying that the meeting happened after individuals had actually observed the sit-at-home regulation of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

“People say it was as a result of sit- in the house, but I have a various view on that since I passed through the conference location at about 6 O’clock that evening, and shops were open, the Eke Otu Market was on, vehicles were moving.

“Besides, the late Kelvin is not from Obeagu ward 3, however as I was informed, he was pressured to participate in the conference to show assistance.

“He arrived when the meeting had practically ended, and immediately he went into the location, the shooters appeared and shot him dead at close quarters, while the other individual passed away on the way to the medical facility,” he lamented.

While blaming the occurrence on the last congress of the APC in the State, he prompted security companies not to be tricked by those blaming the event on the IPOB.

The former APC chairman maintained that the enemies targeted their victims, particularly late Ezeoha, who passed away immediately.

Meanwhile, Nwoye has backed Katsina State Governor on his stand that the residents need to bear arms.

“I am totally aligning myself with Governor Masari of Katsina State who is calling for legalization of arms bearing in the nation. Given that the government has actually failed us, the residents must be allowed to defend themselves,” he kept in mind.
