Ebonyi Residents Obey Sit-at-Home Order Despite Governor Umahi’s Threat
Residents of Ebonyi State declined to listen to the danger by the state government to penalize them as they complied with sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra.
Locals boycotted financial and service activities in the state.
Stores in significant markets were shut, as no single individual was seen in the markets.
IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, has said in a declaration that all citizens of South East region must observe sit-at-home on Tuesday to show solidarity for its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who appeared at the Federal High Court in Abuja today, Tuesday.
In reaction to the sit-at-home, Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, through his Commissioner for Market and Park, Nwachukwu Eze, had said there would be extreme punishment for anyone who obeyed the IPOB orders.
“All markets and parks managements in Ebonyi are by this announcement directed to make sure that markets are open for services on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
“The state is not in any way part of the sit-at-home order by IPOB.
“Please note that stringent compliance to this regulation is extremely essential as failure to do so will bring in severe punishment,” Eze had actually stated.
