BREAKING: Nnamdi Kanu vs Buhari govt: Heavy security as court provides judgment

There is heavy existence of security operatives around the properties of the Abia State High Court, ahead of the judgment of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu’s basic human rights suit.

Security operatives cordoned off the roads leading to the properties of the court complex located on Ikot Ekpene Road in Umuahia, the state capital.

The barricade has forced pedestrians and motorists to take alternative paths.

DAILY POST found out that the security operatives asked journalists and personnel of the court to produce their identity cards before getting into the court property.

During the last hearing, the administering judge, Justice Benson Anya, had actually purchased security operatives to stop disrupting those coming to the court throughout Kanu’s suit.

The essential human rights suit was submitted before the court by his special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor.

Ejimakor prayed the court to state the intrusion of the residence of the IPOB leader in Abia State in 2017 as unlawful and a violation of his constitutional right.

He prayed the court to declare Kanu’s rearrest and abuse in Kenya last year as illegal.

The match, which Ejimakor filed in August, more sought the court to stop the Nigerian government from prosecuting Kanu, mandating it to launch the IPOB leader and tender an apology to Kanu, to name a few.

Nevertheless, Ejimakor and his defence team have been sighted at the court premises.

Also on ground is the Counsel to the Chief of Army Staff, Amos Tory, among other offender attorneys who were sighted at the courtroom.
