Base pay: Organized Labour suspends proposed strike in Kogi

The Organized Labour in Kogi State has suspended their proposed strike action over the non-implementation of the N30,000 base pay by the state government.

Recall that the organized labour in the state, last Saturday, released a fresh seven-day demand to the Kogi State Government prompting them to carry out the N30,000 brand-new base pay or it will start an indefinite strike.

Announcing the suspension of the proposed strike on Wednesday, the Kogi State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Onuh Edoka at a press rundown in Lokoja said the arrangement by the state government to implement the brand-new base pay resulted in the suspension of the industrial action by the employees.

He valued Governor Bello for following the part of honour, including that, the government has raised the state from the list of states that are yet to carry out the brand-new base pay.

Edoka discussed that the execution of the new base pay will add worth to the lives of Kogi employees.

According to him, the execution of the new nationwide minimum wage of N30,000 will be implemented fully for grade levels 01 to 06, while the portion of the substantial change for grade levels 07 to 17 will be partial implementation pending the time the economy of the state enhances.
