Police raid hideout, rescue human trafficking victims in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has actually saved seven victims of human trafficking in the state.

The Command stated following an intelligence report, it raided a criminal hideout at Yankara town, Koza District in Mai’adua LGA of Katsina State, where the victims were camped.

The representative, Katsina Police Command, Superintendent Gambo Isah disclosed this in a press release.

He said the saved victims, consisting of four women and three males, were stashed in a home in the area.

The female victims include Success Oshoopkeme 20, of Asoko LGA, Edo State, Isaac Debora 20, of Ugunagbo LGA, Abia State, James Rebecca 20, of Minna LGA of Niger State and Zainab Tijjani 21, of Ibadan LGA of Oyo State.

The saved male victims according to the declaration are
Amoruwa Ade 28, of Irede LGA of Ondo State, Emmanuel Godwin 22, of Eka North LGA of Delta State and Taofik Olawale 27, of Ibadan LGA of Oyo State.

The victims while being questioned confessed that “they were brought to the town by their agent who on sighting the cops group, required to his heels, escaping with their GSM phones,” SP Gambo said.

The victims likewise admitted that “they were on their method to Libya en path Niger Republic border when they were tracked down by security representatives.”

SP Gambo said, “the saved victims will be turned over to NAPTIP workplace, Kano, for more investigation and arrest of the traffickers.”
