Shonekan was a possession to Nigeria’s unity, peace– Akeredolu

Chairman of the Southwest Governors ‘Forum and Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, had the death of the former Head of the Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan as a big loss to the country.

According to Akeredolu who stated he received the death of the senior statesman with an aching heart, his belief in a united and tranquil Nigeria was unrivaled

While keeping in mind that the huge experience of Shonekan was a property to the nation, particularly with the variety of obstacles challenging the country, Akeredolu in a declaration by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, said his commitment to one Nigeria endeared him to numerous.

He maintained that as a patriot, the late Shonekan who was dedicated to the peace and unity of the nation pursued it with vigor and devotion.

Akeredolu added that the service of the previous Head of Interim National Government will never ever be forgotten in the record of history of the country.

“Chief Ernest Shonekan was a Nationalist per excellence. His belief in an unified and peaceful Nigeria was unparalleled. He was devoted to the progress and development of the county. He will be sorely missed.

“His patriotic and historic function in maintaining the unity of the nation was among the many things that endeared him to numerous. He was certainly a possession, his counsels worked for nationwide cohesion and progress.”

In the declaration, Akeredolu prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest, while commiserating with his wife, the government and people of Ogun State.
