ASUU strike: Emir appeals for calm as trainees protest in Kano

Hundreds of Nigerian students, on Monday, took to the streets in Kano to protest the continuous Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU )strike. The students, who began their protests from Kofar Nassarawa Kano to the Emir’s palace, kicked against the continued strike, describing it as anti-education.

They lamented that many of their associates have actually ended up being drug abuser while some have ended up being criminals.

Reacting, the Emir of Kano, who got the students, said it is disheartening that the students are left idle.

He said he has spoken to both the Federal Government and the ASUU and encouraged them to deal with the matter amicably.

“I will send out an emissary immediately to get very first hand info on what is happening now and I will do whatever it’s requires to make them see sense in fixing the matter”, the Emir assured.
