Hanifa: NAWOJ commends Ganduje for withdrawing independent schools licenses in Kano
The National President of Nigeria Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ladi Bala has actually commended Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, for withdrawing licenses of private schools operating in the state.
She urged other state governments to obtain a leaf from the Kano Governor, describing the license withdrawal as the best action in the right instructions.
The NAWOJ President made the call when a delegation of female reporters from the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, converged on Katsina State for its 2022 National Conference on 27 January, 2022.
She said: “I am getting in touch with other state governments to borrow a leaf from what the Kano State Government has done. The speedy action by the federal government deserves commendation for withdrawing all the licenses of independent schools in Kano for revalidation. This should be the method forward in this country. Not everybody needs to be offered a license to run an independent school.”
While applauding Governor Aminu Bello Masari for his focus and doggedness in resolving the insecurity situation in Katsina State, she prompted the media to strive towards reporting concerns in the best perspectives, especially as it concerns insecurity to prevent instilling excessive fears in the minds of Nigerians.
According to her, “The perspective of the kind of insecurity we are experiencing in the nation is not the type that the government alone can manage. It is the type that you and I need to play an active part in keeping ourselves safe.
“The only method to address the problems of this nation is by guaranteeing that every resident of Nigeria is either gainfully used or is and has the best skill offered the best environment to practice successfully.”
Ladi likewise stated that the society will be much safer with more empowered females, noting that “any government concentrating on females empowerment is a darling of NAWOJ.”
The Katsina Governor, who is the Special Guest of Honour at the event, was represented by his partner, Hajiya Hadiza Masari.
Hajiya Hadiza, while speaking at the event, said substance abuse is majorly responsible for the insecurity pestering the country.
She required more aggressive campaigns against its threat in the country.
