State Police: Nigeria constitution change stuck in politics– Gani Adams blasts National Assembly

Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, on Monday, condemned the elimination of state cops from the amendment of Nigeria’s constitution. He called the development an injustice, keeping in mind that the prolonged wave of insecurity made the need a requirement.

In a statement by his representative Kehinde Aderemi, Adams said he long a feeling that the lawmakers “would not come out with anything that reflects the interest of individuals”.

The conventional leader decided the supposed selfishness of the Senate, stating that the amendment is “mired in unneeded politicking”.

He said the State Police removal from the altercation procedure reveals that the National Assembly members are not worthy representatives.

“The Red Chamber didn’t think about the requirement for State Police, which might have assisted in resolving the pushing security difficulties we face daily.

“Their plan was to conceal under the cover of the law to enhance their political leverage and boost their interests; absolutely nothing more.

“The security situation is a major difficulty in the country and the Senate decided to look the other way by removing State Police from change.”

Adams stated the process was already an “exercise in futility” and that the lawmakers would not attain wanted objectives.

The Aare further implicated them of looking for resistance, life pension and other paraphernalia, forgetting they are representing the masses.
