EPL: Chelsea release statement on Russia’s intrusion of Ukraine after Abramovich turn over club

Chelsea have launched a statement on Russia’s ongoing military attack on Ukraine. This comes less than 15 hours after Russian owner Roman Abramovich announced he was giving up the “stewardship and care” of the club.A terse statement on Sunday early morning, read: “The scenario in Ukraine is disastrous and dreadful.

“Chelsea FC’s thoughts are with everybody in Ukraine. Everybody at the club is praying for peace.”

Notably, there is no reference of Russia, or the Russian invasion.

Abramovich who is a Russian oligarch bought over the Blues in 2003.

Since then, they have actually won five Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies.
