Nnamdi Kanu may pass away in DSS cell, his heart failing– Lawyer writes Red Cross
Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has stated the agitator may lose his life in detention.
Ejimakor stated Kanu’s heart is failing him, and he is having serious breathing issue.
The counsel regreted that the IPOB leader has actually not received adequate medical attention in custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.
Ejimakor revealed this while attracting the International Red Cross Society to help with independent and immediate medical checkup of Kanu.
He made the call in a letter entitled’RE: Urgent Appeal for your humanitarian intervention with the Government of Nigeria to approve Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to independent medical checkup and care.’
In the letter spotted by DAILY POST, Ejimakor urged the Red Cross to “bring your excellent offices to bear on the Government of Nigeria to grant our customer the opportunity of an independent medical checkup and care within the fastest possible time.”
According to Ejimakor: “Our customer notifies us that his blood has actually been drawn more than 20 times without description, which he continues to feel apprehension and fear that he remains in custody of those that take part in his extra-ordinary rendition.
“His health, especially his heart, is failing him and he was having serious breathing problems; that his finger nails are cracking and he feels lightheaded. He told us that he was not getting the needed healthcare even when the Government of Nigeria understands from his in-jail medical examination that his heart has bigger by 13%.
“He stated severe medical issues require the continuous and immediate attention of professional doctors [which are not being provided to him in the detention center] In this scenario, he is day-to-day facing the grim and impending threat of losing his life in detention.”
