Oyo govt seals Premier Hotel, event centre, 80 purchase breaching environmental laws

Oyo State Government, on Thursday, said that it has sealed a hotel, an occasion center and no less than

80 shops. The edifices, according to the federal government, were sealed over violation of ecological laws in the state.

Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oni made these disclosures on Thursday.

He informed journalists that the choices were taken on Thursday.

Oni, who led other staff in the ministry, repeated that the need to seal up these centers became needed so regarding put an end to environmental nuisance in the state.

He added that all the centers were sealed in Ibadan, the state capital on Thursday.

He said that one of the erections that were sealed consisted of the Premier Hotel and an Event Centre, situated at Eleyele location of Ibadan.

Oni explained even more that the hotel was sealed since it stopped working to co-operate with the federal government.

He stated that a 7-day final notice was given to the hotel to comply.

The commissioner noted that occupants of the shops were found for indiscriminate discarding of wastes on the road median and accommodating an unclean drainage at the frontage of their stores.

He stressed that as people, correct garbage disposal is a way of exercising their obligations.

Oni, who spoke after the exercise was carried out said, “It is discouraging that regardless of efforts of this administration to offer an allowing and sustainable environment to citizens, individuals still proceed violating the ecological laws of the state whereas an unclean environment presents risks to individual’s lives in the state. When illness comes, it knows no boundaries”.
