Osun: Alleged phony medical professional arraigned for amputating client’s hand

A 45-year-old man, Yusuf Olaniyi has actually been arraigned before an Ede Magistrate Court on claims of incorrect representation and tried murder.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Rasak Lamidi had actually told the court that the accused presented himself as a medical physician and committed an offense in between August 3 and November 27, 2021.

Olaniyi, had earlier pleaded innocent to a three-count charge of incorrect representation as a doctor, breach of public peace and unprofessional act which led to the amputation of the hand of one Isa Fatiu.

The Police Prosecutor said the circumstance caused the breach of public peace between the household of the plaintiff and the accused before the problem was given court.

He stated the offence committed contravened sections 344, 484 and 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol.11, laws of Osun, 2002.

The defence counsel, Tajudeen Shittu in his prayer, asked the court to approve his customer bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. Ajala, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 and two sureties in the like amount.

“The sureties should reside within the court jurisdiction, with evidence of tax payments and passport sized photos, attached with an affidavit of ways.

“One of the sureties must be a civil servant on grade level 10, while the other a close relatives to the offender,” she directed.

The case was adjourned to April 5 for hearing.
