Human rights activist and former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the call from 2023 presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for Nigerian youths to wait till after his own tenure before objecting to the presidency.

The All Progressives Congress stalwart throughout his visit to the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo on Sunday had jokingly said the youths should await him to complete his own period as president of Nigeria prior to gunning for the position.

Tinubu had while speaking at the palace of the traditional ruler, prayed for the youths to attain high positions in life including ending up being the President of Nigeria.

He nevertheless included that they would need to wait till he completes his own tenure in office.

“You will become president … but after me,” he stated in the middle of cheers from those at the gathering.

Responding to the statement, Sani on Monday via the micro-blogging website of Twitter said by the time the youths are done awaiting Tinubu to end up being President and total his tenure, they too would have become elders.

He wrote: “By the time the Youths waited for Baba and waited for Jagaban to complete their periods, they have ended up being senior citizens themselves.”
