2 prohibited marketers detained with 30 kegs of fuel in Kwara

The clampdown on unlawful fuel online marketers by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State command, yielded a favorable result on Thursday, with the arrest of two individuals who were participating in black market business.

The 2 suspects, Yunus Yusuf, (32) and Ismail Olamilekan, (33) were captured with 30 kegs of petrol indicated for illegal black market company at Eyenkorin axis of Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

They supposedly purchased the 30 kegs of petrol from a neighbouring State and brought them to Kwara, to be cost a high price to end users in Ilorin, the State capital.

The suspects were intercepted in a taxi cab at Eyenkorin axis, loaded with the 30 kegs of petrol, the spokesperson of the NSCDC in the State, Babawale Afolabi disclosed to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday.

He stated the 2 suspects in their confessional statements, confessed to be participating in black market company of fuel, adding that “they went to Ogbomoso, Oyo State to buy the product which they meant to cost expensive rates to desperate end users in Ilorin, the State capital.”

Babawale, stated “as directed by the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Makinde Iskil Ayinla, the anti-vandal unit of the corps led by the Commander, Ayinde Yusuf, has actually continued its operational activities in order to examine any action or inactiveness that can worsen the present fuel scarcity situation.”

He reiterated the preparedness of the command to make life tough to all saboteurs who are bent on making life tough for individuals by intensifying the existing fuel scarcity circumstance.

The spokesperson stated the suspects would be credited court after the completion of investigations into the matter.
