FCT Council Polls: PDP’s Gabaya wins Bwari chairmanship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Shekwogaza John Gabaya, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of the Bwari Council Chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory.

The INEC Returning Officer for the Bwari Area Council Election, Prof. Amuche Madu, made the announcement on Sunday morning.

Amuche said Gabaya who is the incumbent chairman of the council, polled a total of 13, 045 votes to defeat his rival the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Haruna Shekwolo, who scored a total of 7,697 votes.

She said the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Abubakar Abdullahi, scored 603 to emerge in third place.

“Shekwogaza Gabaya of PDP, having certified the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Madu added.
