Equipped bandits strike in Kwara community, kill okada rider

Armed outlaws struck on Monday along Owode-Onire/Oke-Onigbin roadway in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing one business motorcyclist, likewise referred to as okada rider, recognized as Bayo Ayelomo.

Ayelomo, a resident of Oke-Onigbin town, according to reports, was on his way back to Oke-Onigbin with a guest when he was assaulted by the outlaws at about 8pm.

Angry youths of Oke-Onigbin town went on rampage, burning tyres and obstructing the highway to protest what they referred to as relentless attacks in the location.

The representative for the state authorities command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the development in Ilorin on Tuesday, stated “On the receipt of information, the state Police Commissioner, Tuesday Assayomo, immediately dispatched teams of police officers to the scene for possible arrest of the masterminds for prosecution.”

He stated examination was already ongoing, including that “with the intervention of the chairman of the local government area and the police, calm has fully been restored in the area.”

The cops commissioner, while sympathizing with the household of the deceased, assured individuals of the state of the command’s preparedness to do everything possible within the law to keep them safe and secure.

The people of the area are also tackling their organizations without fear of any attack, he stated.
