Ooni Ogunwusi imposes restrictions as spate of break-in boosts in Ile-Ife

The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has revealed constraints for citizens of Ile-Ife and surrounding towns over the increase in armed robbery events in the ancient town.

The Ooni while making the announcement on Saturday stated it became crucial to enforce the restrictions, to suppress the growing rate of armed robbery.

A representative of Ife Chiefs, Lowa Adimula, Abraham Adekola, informed newsmen that the restriction order was offered at the conclusion of a conference of the Ife Kingmakers on Saturday.

The Lowa Adimula said the Ooni had already given his blessings and the order for constraints would be coming into effect on Saturday, January 29 and would remain in place till additional notice.

Explaining the modus operandi for the limitations, Adekola said, “lockdown of movement would commence from 11pm and terminate at 5am Ile-Ife from Saturday, January 29 till additional notice.

“As an outcome of that, no vigil, no night celebration, no night prayer in all churches and mosques.

“The restriction was put in place because the activities of burglars in Ile-Ife is worrying and this is providing many locals sleepless nights.”

While warning that anyone captured flouting the instruction would be dealt with as a robbery suspect, the Ile-Ife chief included that the personnel of the Nigeria Police and regional security operatives were now in the communities to guarantee the order is strictly adhered to.
