Insecurity: PDP buffoons, berates Buhari for cancelling journey to Zamfara State
The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) on Friday berated President Muhammadu Buhari for cancelling his planned check out to struggling Zamfara State.
This was expressed in a declaration by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the party.
DAILY POST recalls that the president suspended his journey to the state because of bad weather.
However, the opposition PDP dismissed President Buhari’s reason when he had the option of making the short journey from Sokoto to Gusau by roadway.
“We ask, did Mr President cancel the trip to Zamfara State out of fear of terrorists? Was Mr President, an Army General, with all the security device under his command scared to take a trip by roadway because he was not exactly sure of his security in addition to the worn out state of our roads under his watch?” The declaration queried.
According to the statement, from Sokoto to Gusau, the Zamfara State capital is about 206 kilometres.
He said, “President Buhari should have actually assured Nigerians by taking a trip to Gusau, instead he chose a video broadcast in which he guaranteed the struggling people of the state that he looks ‘forward to a more weather-friendly period when I will go to’.”
It explained the message as another sad demonstration of the President leading from behind against his own pledge and commitment to Nigerians to lead from the front in the fight against terrorism.
“If truly the people matter to Mr President and his Party, the APC; if truly President Buhari and the APC believe in Nigerians and feel their discomforts; if genuinely they are very worried about the wellbeing of the people, then Mr President would have taken it upon himself, with all the device of power at his disposal, to visit and understand with individuals of Zamfara State who are daily distressed by terrorists,” it said.
According to the statement, such attitude to governance speaks volumes as to why Nigeria is in a shambolic state under the Buhari-led administration.
He stated the party is not particularly surprised because the All Progressives Congress (APC), in addition to Buhari, is always missing in vital areas of our nationwide life.
“Nigerians have not forgotten the sad episode of the Agatu Massacre in Benue State wherein President Buhari, on March 12, 2018, informed a confused country that he was not aware that the Inspector General of Police was not in the area as directed by him.
“In Mr President’s words, “I’m not conscious that the I.G did not invest 24 hours in the state as directed by me, I am learning more about in this meeting.” Such was a miserable presentation of abdication of leadership.
“Indeed, such turn to leadership by proxy is untenable and entirely undesirable. Our nation needs a management that is active, people-oriented, gentle, result-driven and functional; a job which the APC as a celebration of propaganda, deceit and lies can not deliver on,” the statement read in part.
The PDP sympathized with the people of Zamfara State for being made to squander their meagre resources to arrange for a Presidential check out just to get a awkward and uninspiring video broadcast.
The celebration nevertheless called on Nigerians not to misery but “stay resolute in rallying on the platform of our celebration in our mission to rescue and rebuild our country from the stranglehold of misrule”, adding that, they need to keep hope alive as aid is on the way from the PDP, come 2023.
