2023: PDP might shock APC if internal crisis continues, Amaechi my prospect– Tonye Princewill

Ex-Rivers State governorship aspirant and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Tonye Princewill has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) might return to power in 2023 if the APC is unable to solve its internal crisis.

Princewill, in a chat with newsmen in Lagos, said if the APC is not able to fix its internal crisis before the 2023 elections, it will be possible for the previous ruling party to take over the management of the nation. The previous guber candidate anchored his position on the short memories of Nigerians, who may have forgotten what the PDP did to them in its eight years in power.

He said, “It’s not impossible. PDP is weak and likewise vulnerable to a customized implosion of its own, but nobody needs to ever be underestimated. Nigerians have extremely brief memories. Some have actually forgotten what PDP represents and cut off their nose to spite their face. I’ve seen men do very odd things, just to regret it later on.

“Besides, effective males running out power for eight years can do powerful things like swallowing their own vomit to return in. For lots of, politicians, politics and power is all they know. They can do anything to stay pertinent.

“The other element to think about is 2023 may not be about celebration. It might be about the candidate. If PDP brings a popular prospect, he or she can offer the celebration a new image. The message to us in APC is ‘do not take Nigerians for granted’. And I am so sure, we will not,”he stated.

Speaking on political parties’ internal crises, the prince of the Kalabari kingdom believed that Nigeria’s biggest difficulty is internal party democracy. He argued that even though corruption insecurity, unemployment is second on the list of Nigeria’s issues, the country’s biggest problem is internal celebration democracy.

According to Princewill, “How we as party members chose our leaders. If we can get that right, the leaders we have will be true agents of the desires of the people and after that the scourges of youth joblessness, corruption and insecurity that the masses are dealing with will give way to the development that has been so elusive to our beloved country.”He traced the issues in political parties to the lack of internal celebration democracy. He, however, advised reconciliation as an important element of progressing, as according to him, “It is not what occurs to you, but how it is resolved. Program regard, listen to opposing views and discover a way to put them behind you and you will see the outcomes.

Princewill recalled APC reconciliation in 2014, stating that it revealed Nigeria how “reconciliation and cumulative interests produced an agreement that toppled an incumbent federal government. Male decided to bury personal interests to assemble around a single ideal that kicked PDP out of power. In the pursuit of retaining power, APC has to do the exact same otherwise it will have a taste of its own medication. A word suffices for the wise.”Speaking on zoning, the APC chieftain stated zoning has no location in fully grown democracy however that in a “new one like ours, with a pluralistic structure and a history of ethnic, spiritual and cultural tensions, just a politician blinded by overreaching ambitions, can neglect it. Given that the world has lots of selfish politicians, there are many legal loopholes available to deny zoning. However that which is unfair and morally insolvent ultimately falls.”

On 2023 presidential candidates, Princewill said, even though Tinubu is entitled to run, his prospect remains Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi “and I state so, not just because he is from my state because that is insufficient. I state so since his track record, his dedication, his energy, his ability to get things done, his age and his capability to reach a consensus over the years, stands him in great stead.

“As our speaker, he was the Chair of Speakers, as Governor, he was the Chair of Governors, as Minister, he is the best performing Minister, by far. So as President, I understand the trend will continue. Nigeria is far too crucial to leave tomorrow to chance.”

On Goodluck Jonathan’s alleged relocate to the APC for the very same aspiration, he stated, “Some of us in Rivers State who came down with the imposition of Wike on us in 2015, keep in mind the function of our previous President and his better half in the marginalization of their fellow Ijaw’s interest for the Governor of Rivers State.

“Like we later on suffered in the 2019 election too, a desire to settle individual ratings with Amaechi also added to making us lose that election too.

“We are still suffering the effects today. It’s politics, it isn’t individual. Let’s leave speculation, my dad taught me not to believe in my breakfast till I’ve eaten it. If the former President concerns join us, we will provide him an unique welcome,” he said.
