FEC: Rail, road infrastructure in FCT to gulp N56bn– Minister

Efforts to enhance public infrastructures in the nation’s capital, Abuja, might have received the blessing of the Federal Executive Council as it got an approval of N56.2 billion for construction of a parking lot for the light rail project in addition to gain access to roadway linking Kuje.

At the meeting presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Wednesday, they deliberated on the memo provided by the FCT Minister, Mohammed Bello, before voting for funds to allow complete scope development of Federal Capital Territory Highway 105, Kuje Road, from Airport Expressway to Kuje Junction Stage 1, Abuja at the cost of N54,946,009,160.04.

In a similar vein, FEC approved the agreement for the building of an access road and a parking area for Abuja Light Rail Stations– located at Gbazango Station Kubwa, Abuja– Lot 7 at the expense of N1,291,568,845.33, respectively.

The Kuje roadway task was awarded to Messrs Arab Contractors O. A. O Nigeria Limited with a completion period of 48 months, while that of rail car park was granted in favour of Messrs CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Limited with a conclusion period of 8 months.
