Audacity of herders’ killings, attacks on Ondo neighborhoods baffling– Akeredolu

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has revealed confusion over the effrontery of suspected Fulani herders introducing attacks on communities in the state in spite of the security plan put in location.

According to the guv, he never ever imagined that the security hazard in the state would get to its present point.

Akeredolu divulged this on Tuesday while selecting the Commander of Amotekun Corps in the state, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye as his Special Adviser on Security Matters.

Herders numbering about 50 had on January 7, 2022 laid siege to Molege village where 3 individuals were hacked to death and homes taken down.

The guv emphasised that the intrusion of communities and towns by bad guys masquerading as herdsmen became part of what notified his decision to have a Special Adviser who had become part of the system.

While disclosing that Adeleye will continue to function as the Corps’ Commander, Akeredolu kept in mind that the consultation belonged to the efforts towards improving the working relationship in between government and security agencies in the state.

“That individuals will have the audacity to come to our neighborhoods and towns, eliminate our individuals and set their houses ablaze. I understood I required to do something. Part of my instant response is what you are seeing here today.

“I am a practical individual. And I have actually seen that we are confronted with a lot of difficulties. I know that my SSA on Security is never part of our executive council and I am persuaded that we have a security council meeting, just few people here are on it.”
