We arrested 147 drug suspects in 2021 in Rivers– NDLEA

The Rivers State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has said it arrested 147 suspects in 2021.

The suspects consist of 118 males and 29 females.

A declaration provided by the representative of the Command, Emmanuel Ogbumgbada stated, “The command made an overall drug seizure of 881.403 kg of Psychotropic substances and narcotic drugs such as drug, heroin, cannabis sativa, Methamphetamine (aka mkorummiri), tramadol, codeine, valium, to name a few, within the very same duration.

The statement said the command effectively convicted 13 illicit drug dealerships at the federal high court in Port Harcourt and that they were sentenced to various jail terms at the Nigerian Correctional service Centre.

It further described that 31 drug-dependent individuals were effectively dealt with and fixed up at the command’s rehab centre and released to their families.

In the meantime, the Rivers State Commander, Usman Ali Wadar has repeated that the command will leave no stone unturned as it prepares to root out illicit drug dealerships in the state.

He likewise called on members of the general public “to sign up with hands with the Agency to make the society drug free”.
