Authorities neglected us after highway burglars attacked us in Ondo– Victims

Victims of highway robbery in the Ifira-Akoko axis in Akoko South East Local Government has divulged how they were overlooked by a team of cops after their lorry was assaulted.

The victims who were on their way to Abuja from Lagos said their automobile was waylaid on around 3:30 pm and could not leave the area until 8:00 pm.

The passengers were attacked by the daredevil robbers on Tuesday while transiting through the state.

Speaking on behalf of the 17 passengers who were robbed at gunpoint, the driver of the 18-passenger bus, Agboola Kabiru, stated the policemen who installed obstructions a couple of metres from the scene ignored them.

The motorist added that it was operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, referred to as the Amotekun Corps who concerned their rescue.

Kabiru, said “On our way from Lagos to Abuja after going through Idoani in Ondo State where there is a bad portion of road prior to Isua, the robbers assaulted our car and I was forced to stop the automobile.

“They shot sporadically into the air after which they gathered the key from me and drove the bus into the bush.

“It was inside the bush that they began to rob us of our possessions. After they collected our belongings, they left us inside the bush and they drove our cars away.

“The funniest part was that there were policemen some meters from where we were stranded however they didn’t address us. We were robbed around 3:30 pm and we left that spot around 8:00 pm.

“One of the Amotekun operatives went to help us get a rewire that will start the rest and the bus went inside the bush and they routed the armed burglars. I didn’t even believe that the burglars can be caught.
