Bus Driver Perish In Anambra Auto Crash

File Photo A fatal mishap claimed the life of a bus driver at Nkwelle Junction on Onitsha-Nteje Expressway in Anambra on Friday, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed.

Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, Commander of the FRSC in the state, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka.He attributed the mishap, which occurred at about 7 am, to wrongful overtaking.

“The fatal crash involved a commercial Mack tanker with registration number: ENU224YY and a personal Toyota Hiace bus with registration number: GWA25TM.

“According to an eyewitness account, the bus motorist overtook wrongfully without knowing there was a broken-down pick-up vehicle ahead. While trying to evade the pick-up, he rammed into the tanker and crashed.

“The crash included 3 male adults and the FRSC rescue group from Nteje Unit Command hurried the victims to Chira Hospital, Awkuzu where the bus chauffeur was confirmed dead.

“His body has been deposited at knowledge mortuary, Awkuzu,” he said.The Sector Commander stated that FRSC officials were on the ground to handle the traffic and guarantee the blockage triggered by the crash was cleared.While sympathising with the household of the dead, he

urged drivers to avoid wrongful overtaking and be watchful while driving.”Road security is everybody’s organization; drive to survive.
