University students jailed over alleged cultism In Ekiti

Ekiti State Police Command has actually jailed six suspected cultists in Oye Ekiti after an idea off by members of the general public.

According to a statement by the spokesperson for the command, ASP Sunday Abutu, the suspects, who confessed to the crime, claimed to be students of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti.

The statement reads, “Today being 01/03/2022 at about 08:30 hrs, the Command received reputable details. information that some members of DENORSEMEN SECRET CULT GROUP were holding a meeting in their hideout in Oye-Ekiti.

“Upon the receipt of the information, the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) set in motion to the scene where six believed cultists namely; Omole Paul (21 years), Okoro Wisdom (22 years), David Makinlola (20 years), Egbabo Kester (22 years), Raymond Ejekwu (21 years) and Daniel Chiwumba (28 years) were jailed.

“Items recovered from the suspects at the scene are:

i. Two( 2) cutlasses

ii. One( 1) hammer

iii. 2( 2) cups of loud hem

iv. 3( 3) covers of weeds thought to be Indian hemp and

v. Different criminal charms.”

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Tunde Mobayo, while keeping that the jailed suspects will be prosecuted accordingly, implored parents and guardians to always highlight the risks of cultism and other criminal activities to their kids and wards.
