Ozigbo condemns killing at Anambra funeral

The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)candidate in the 2021 Anambra State governorship election, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, has actually condemned the mass murder over the weekend at a funeral event kept in Ebenebe, Awka North LGA of Anambra State.

DAILY POST reports that at least 16 mourners were eliminated and a number of others wounded when persons suspected to be cultists attacked the burial event of one Mr Chibuike Joseph Chukwuka.

In a statement offered to DAILY POST, Mr Ozigbo described the killing as a tragic incident, including that it was unacceptable and shocking, which it was a scary that must be collectively condemned.

Ozigjo stated: “Over the weekend, I received the report of a horrific event in Ebenebe where about sixteen people were killed as they attended the funeral service of their relative and pal, whose life was likewise tragically interrupt.

“The images of the criminal offense scene shared on social networks are stunning, horrific, and should not be normalised in any way.

“The South East, especially Anambra State, has seen terrible waves of violence which have declared the lives of numerous our individuals, both young and old.

“This most current event marks a turning point in the decline of our worths as Igbos and must be unacceptable to everybody, and we need to take actions as leaders to intervene.

“This is not a problem to be treated with kid’s gloves or swept under the carpet. We should deal with the root cause of this anomaly and not simply the symptoms.

“We should return to the drawing board, reassess our value system, emphasise moral worths and maintain the sanctity of human life.

“Importantly, we need to assemble as soon as possible, the idea leaders, political, conventional, females, and youth leaders need to come together and re-evaluate our values. We should take steps to arrest this development before it consumes all of us,” Ozigbo warned.
