Carabao Cup final: Tuchel exposes who to blame for Liverpool defeat after Kepa gamble backfires

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has accepted complete responsibility for their Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. The Blues lost 11-10 on penalties to Jurgen Klopp’s men at Wembley Stadium.

The Reds won in dramatic style after Tuchel saw his late gamble backfire.

Tuchel introduced Kepa Arrizabalaga to change Eduoard Mendy in the 119th minute ahead of the shootout.

The Spaniard failed to conserve any kick and missed out on the vital one himself.

Speaking after the video game, Tuchel said: “We do not know what would’ve taken place if we left Edou on the pitch. No blame on Kepa. Blame on me as I’m the guy who takes the choices.

“Sometimes it works out, often it does not. This is life as a football coach.”
