Oh No! Two Electrocuted, Others Injured After Power Surge In Makurdi

File photo According to a report by Vanguard, two persons were Thursday morning apparently electrocuted while three others sustained injuries in the Wadata location of Makurdi town following an unexpected rise in electricity supply to the location.

Vanguard gathered from an eyewitness in the location that the two dead victims were a nurse and a Junior Secondary School student who got electrocuted while trying to disconnect their devices from source of power when they saw the surge.

According to him, “as soon as we observed the high voltage today at about 7am lots of people hurried to disconnect their home appliances from the sockets but at the same time, people were electrocuted.

“A neighbour here who is a nurse was said to be using electrical cooker when we experienced the high voltage however as she rapidly went to detach it from the source of power in the house she got electrocuted, so also, a young boy who is a Junior Secondary School student.

“Three other persons were also impacted however they were rushed to undisclosed healthcare facilities for treatment.”

Gotten in touch with, the Makurdi Regional Manager of Jos Electricity Distribution Company, JED, Mr. Felix Adamu confirmed that the community had actually reported the incident.
