Turmoil As Councillor, Eight Others Get Abducted By Bandits In Sokoto
Daily Trust reports that some bandits have invaded Yar Tsakuwa Village in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State, snatching 9 individuals consisting of the serving councillor of the location, Lawali Bello.
Two spouses and a child of the previous councillor of the area, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba, were amongst the abductees, Daily Trust reports.
A citizen, Nazifi Abdullahi, said that the bandits came around midnight on Saturday and operated till 2:50 am.
They reportedly rummaged shops and houses including medical stores, robbing people of their personal belongings.
According to Abdullahi, the bandits stole numerous motorbikes, food things and assorted drugs.
He said they abducted over 20 persons however launched others while going back to their hideouts.
“But nine individuals are currently with them, including our serving councillor and wives and child of our previous councillor,” he stated.
He disclosed that the former councillor had actually left the town because of incessant attacks, adding that the partners and the child remained in the town to go to the calling ceremony of their newborn grandson.
Abdullahi stated the bandits shot and injured someone, who was taken to Talata Mafara General Hospital in Zamfara State for treatment.
