My partner violent, chases me with cutlass– Man tells court

One Mr. Steve Bashorun, on Thursday, dragged his partner, Oluwaseyi, before an Alagbado Customary Court in Lagos State, for declared threat to life. The 61-year-old man, who informed the court that he had actually been married to 40-year-old Oluwaseyi for 17 years, implicated her of not taking care of for their three kids.

He mentioned that Oluwaseyi did not have regard for his member of the family, especially his mom, prior to she died.

“My other half is violent and uses hazardous weapons such as cutlass, knife and pounding pestle to threaten me.

“Sometimes, after going through my telephone call history and messages, she snaps and threatens to kill me.

“Sometimes, I escape from home for months to my other lady’s location. I returned home in Dec. 2021, after keeping away for nine months.”

He also claimed that his partner refused to prepare for his sibling and in some cases does not prepare for their children.

Reacting, Oluwaseyi denied showing any violent behaviour, but admitted that she declined to prepare for her brother-in-law 17 years ago since she had just given birth to their first kid at the time.

“We do not purchase food outside, I make certain I cook for my children to eat and take to school.

“Also, I prepare dinner after closing from my look around 9:00 p.m.,” she told the court.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that both the petitioner and the participant stated that they still enjoyed each other.

Judgment, the President of the court, Mr Alli Emmanuel, recommended them to enhance their conduct and preserve peace.

“Work on yourselves and preserve peace in the interest of the kids, so regarding live as responsible residents.

Emmanuel adjourned the case until March 1 possible resolution of the conflict.
