Group begs Buhari to launch taking a trip files of El-Zakzaky, spouse
A group, Advocate for Social Justice, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to return the travelling documents of the leader of the Islamic motion in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and that of his other half, Malama Zeenatuddin Ibrahim on humanitarian grounds.
The group informed the federal government that the couple needed their taking a trip documents to continue for medical treatment abroad following their prison experience.
The group noted that they have been released and acquitted by the Kaduna State High Court of the charges levelled against them.
Its Publicity Secretary, Mr Segun Fanimo, in a statement stated that even President Muhammadu Buhari takes time off from responsibility to take care of his health situation outside Nigeria.
“So there is no reason to deny the Shiite leader the right to go to any country to take care of his worsening health condition.”
The statement included, “As you know, it has been over six months since the leader of the Islamic Movement, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his other half were acquitted and released by Kaduna State High Court, after spending practically six years in unlawful detention.”
DAILY POST remembers that Justice Gideon Kurada had, in his ruling delivered on July 30, 2021, upheld the no-case submission by the counsel to the Zakzaky’s, Mr Femi Falana SAN.
The couple who were arrested in December 2015 remained in the custody of the DSS before they were transferred to the Kaduna Correctional Centre center.
The declaration noted that the medical scenario of the couple was not effectively managed in addition to gunshot injuries and other health problems that need serious intervention; as a result of which their health condition woefully weakened from bad to even worse.
The group said the couple’s health condition has further weakened as the Sheikh now hops and his better half, Malama Zeenatuddin Ibrahim confined to a wheelchair.
It called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Attorney General of the Federation to release the Sheikh and his wife’s travel files so they can seek medical attention abroad.
The declaration alleged that the couple lost 6 of their children in less than 2 years and over a thousand of his fans were eliminated and buried in mass graves during their everyday Free Zakzaky protests in Abuja.
