Imo College of Education employees demonstration, demand removal of provost

Academic and Non-Academic staff of the Imo State College of Education, Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State, have actually staged a peaceful demonstration, requiring the removal of the College Provost, Boniface Ashiegbu. The protesters, who showed placards with numerous inscriptions, stormed the state secretariat workplace of the Imo State Commissioner for Education, in Owerri, to register their grievances.

Speaking with reporters, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the College Kingsley Anyiam, who led the protest, said their demand for the elimination of Ashiegbu was informed by his lack of requisite credentials to be the provost.

They also accused Ashiegbu of gross abuse of workplace and some administrative infractions.

According to him, “One of the reasons the school has actually not been accredited given that beginning, having actually produced graduates, who left the school without genuine certificates, is since he does not have requisite certifications to be the provost.

“Apart from the reality that Ashiegbu is not certified, he has been running the school down by the method he handles funds that enter into the school, keeping most to himself without dispersing to different department heads.”

When gotten in touch with on phone by the College Provost, Asiegbu stated all the accusations against him by the protesters were complete fallacy.

He stated that he finished from the University of Port Harcourt with Ph.D, in 2012. He also stated that there is light and water in the trainees’ hostel.
