10 travelers, 30 cows die as trailer filled with livestock crashes in Katsina

No less than 10 passengers and 30 cows were supposedly killed when a trailer lost control and crashed at Gora village in Malumfashi LGA of Katsina State, early hours of Thursday.

The trailer, heavily packed with travelers and cows, was stated to be heading to Warri, Delta State, when it lost control at a sharp bend in Gora and somersaulted a little after 12:00 am on Thursday.

DAILY POST collected that at least,10 passengers and 30 cows died while ratings of others were hurt in the mishap.

A member of the neighborhood where the accident occurred, revealed that bulk of the victims associated with the crash were from Kaita LGA of Katsina State and their households have been informed of the development.

According to him, “The injured victims in the mishap are presently being dealt with at the Malumfashi General Hospital.”

While verifying the report, the Public Relations Officer of Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, Abubakakar Usman, stated, “It was a lone crash that occurred around 00:10 hours on Thursday at Gora Ward of Malumfashi Local Government Area, involving a trailer with registration number KTN 495 XA, which was over laden with animals and travelers, heading to southern Nigeria but lost control when it got to a sharp bend and somersaulted. We are yet to confirm the number of individuals that died there, but according to eyewitnesses and our males on rescue, 30 cows were killed.”
