The Lagos State Government has prohibited using all forms of amplifiers at motor parks throughout the state.

Unique Adviser on Transportation, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, made the announcement at a Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) instruction.

Fayinka regreted the indiscriminate usage of loudspeakers and speakers to draw in guests.

From now, any person caught using any noise producing gadget would be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

The official said the Park Monitoring Committee has been mandated to keep track of parks for total compliance and bring back sanity.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (OES), Tajudeen Gaji, regreted that noise pollution remained in excess of acceptable limitations.

Gaji said apart from the transport sector, spiritual, commercial and show business were also culpable.

“Adults show fantastic concerns from issues related to sound pollution, but children are quite vulnerable as there are no known visible signs at early age,” he noted.
