FG allocates N500 million liftoff for 10 newly-approved national parks

The Federal Government of Nigeria has actually approved N500 million take-off funds for the 10 newly-approved National Parks.

Recall that in 2020, the federal government authorized 10 extra National Parks, bringing a total of 17 parks in the country.

Parts of the locations authorized were Apoi Forest Reserve Apoi National Park, 64.77 km2 Bayelsa State; Edumenum Forest Reserve Edumenum National Park 86.76 km2 Bayelsa State; Falgore Game Reserve Falgore National Park; 920 km2 Kano State and Oba Hill Forest Reserve Oba Hills National Park 52.5 km2 Osun State.

The Conservator General, National Park Service, Dr Ibrahim Goni, revealed this in Osun State during a courtesy visit to Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola.

Speaking, Governor Oyetola praised the Federal Government for authorizing Oba Hills Forest Reserve, situated in Iwo Local Government Area of the state, as a National Park.

He kept in mind that the new development will enhance and likewise improve the economy of the state.

The state helmsman, therefore, promised his optimum cooperation with the National Park Service for the smooth and effective liftoff of the task.
