2023: Ikwerre people are not Igbo, Ameachi wants to change our history– APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Chidi Wihioka, has accused the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, of attempting to change the history of Ikwerre individuals because of his presidential aspiration. Wihioka, who is a follower of Magnus Abe, alleged that Amaechi has actually been telling Nigerians that Ikwerre individuals are Igbos because he wishes to end up being president.

The previous member of your home of Representatives was speaking at an occasion held in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.

He firmly insisted that Ikwerre individuals are not Igbo, stating they have their own history and culture.

He stated, “This is a man that wants to turn the history of Ikwerre land and said Ikwerre is Igbo. We are ashamed of him. Ikwerre can never be Igbo.

“We have our history we have our record. Because you desire to be president, you can not rewrite our record. If you wish to be something your sisters and bros would understand. As far as we are concerned, we have not provided any approval to whoever that is discussing him.”

Meanwhile, Amaechi has not declared any interest to run for the presidential election in 2023.
