Cross River immunises over 1000 kids against killer diseases

As many as 1000 kids in Odukpani and Calabar South LGAs of Cross River State have up until now been inoculated in the ongoing National Immunization Plus Days (NIPD,) a regular health intervention plan.

This was revealed in Calabar by the Director-General of the state Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong at the end of the medical visitations to both city governments.

She stated the NIPD was produced to ensure total vaccination of children within the ages of 0-59 months against Polio and some childhood killer diseases.

She divulged that health workers were mobilised to designated centres spreading out across markets, schools, churches and other strategic places in two councils.

While dealing with some parents and caregivers in their various houses and places, Ekpenyong valued them for taking their wards and children out for vaccination, explaining them as ‘collaborative representatives of change” and essential stakeholders in the quest for Universal Health Coverage.

She advised them to assist sensitize their pals and other neighborhood members to constantly go to health centres and stop the patronage of local medicines which has little or no regulations.

Ekpenyong stressed that the agency looks for to actualize the ‘Zero missed kid’ target in the continuous National Immunization Plus Days Exercise.

She stated there is no kind of discrimination in any community regardless of topographic challenges as health interventions are taken pleasure in by all.
