Shehu Abdullahi has actually gone back to complete training with his Cypriot club Omonia, after being sidelined with injury.

Abdullahi announced this via his Twitter deal with on Friday.

He wrote: “I’m thrilled to return to complete training. I appreciate your assistance and prayers. The love I received from the team management, coaching staff and my colleagues was frustrating.”

The 28-year-old was one of a number of Super Eagles gamers who did not feature at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

He missed out on the competition alongside the likes of Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu, Samuel Kalu, Leon Balogun and Oghenekaro Etebo.

This represents a big boost for Nigeria, ahead of their 2022 World Cup playoffs against Ghana in March.
