African Union suspends Burkina Faso after coup
The African Union (AU )has actually suspended Burkina Faso, one week after a military takeover in the country.
The body states the sanction will be in effect until constitutional order is brought back.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) took comparable action against Burkina Faso last Friday.
President Roch Kabore is “in great spirits”, said Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, after seeing him.
Botchway, Head of Mission to Ouagadougou, informed reporters that Kabore looks well, has access to his medical professionals and household.
The ECOWAS delegation also satisfied coup leaders led by Lt. Col. Paul-Henri Damiba for talks on security and shift.
“They seemed really open to the propositions and to us that is a great sign.
“It is our position that the shift need to be short so that Burkina Faso can return rapidly to constitutional order”, Botchway noted.
Burkina Faso is the third West African country to witness the ouster of a civilian administration considering that August 2020.
