AFCON 2021: Three European clubs respond as Egypt sends out Ivory Coast out of Cameroon

Three European clubs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa, have commended Egypt for receiving the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations

(AFCON )in Cameroon. Egypt defeated Ivory Coast 5-4 on penalties in the AFCON round of 16 on Wednesday to qualify for the quarter-final phase. The encounter ended in a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes.

Mohamed Salah’s winning penalty made sure Egypt got rid of Ivory Coast from the tournament.

Egypt will now face Morocco in the AFCON last-8 this weekend.

Responding to Egypt’s credentials, Arsenal, in a tweet through its Twitter manage, wrote: “Egypt Through to the quarter-finals Trophy Man of the Match Congratulations, @ElNennY #AFCON 2021.”

Aston Villa wrote: “Egypt face Ivory Coast at 4 pm (GMT), with a place in the #AFCON 2021 quarter-finals on the line. Flag of Egypt Good luck, @Trezeguet.”

Also, Liverpool tweeted: “@MoSalah nets the winning charge to send #TeamEgypt through to the #AFCON 2021 quarter-finals.”
