Kwara: 40-year-old male captured for supposed cattle rustling, breach of contract

agreement. The suspect apparently duped one Umar Abubakar, of Budo Alhaji town in Oyo state, who utilized him to tend his herd of livestock in September 2021.

Ruwa, according to the spokesperson of the state Civil Defence Corps, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, in Ilorin on Friday, was to tend the cattle for 7 months on regular monthly income of N10,000.

He said the suspect, however, “reared the livestock for only one month and ran away with 17 of the cows and moved to Kura Village in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

“The matter was initially reported at our Igbaja Divisional workplace, in Kwara South Senatorial District, before it was transferred to the Intelligence and Investigations department at the civil defence Command headquarters in Ilorin, where painstaking examinations were carried out after the arrest of the suspect,” the spokesman even more disclosed.

Babawale, stated findings exposed that the suspect had offered three of the stolen cows valued at N600,000, while the staying 14 cows were recovered from him.

The state Commandant, Makinde Iskil Ayinla, has directed that the suspect be credited court on Tuesday next week, as investigations have actually been concluded into the matter.
