Noo also applauded her mother for her strength in raising five kids– three young boys and two ladies– after her hubby’s death. Two of Saro-Wiwa’s boys have actually given that handed down. “Right up until the end she was
trimming the yard and moving furnishings against mine and her physician’s orders. Her independence was vital. However it was hard to see her distress over her kids’deaths. My biggest worry was
that she would outlast yet another one of her kids. When I found her in bed on Sunday, having passed away in her sleep, there was a sense of relief. She is at peace now,”Noo added.Saro-Wiwa was killed together with 8 other Ogoni individuals in 1995 after being attempted by a special military tribunal under then head of state Sani Abacha for presumably masterminding the killing of Ogoni chiefs at a pro-government conference.
