2023: Orji Kalu opens up on assaulting Tinubu’s presidential aspiration

Orji Uzor Kalu, the Senate Chief Whip, on Sunday distanced himself from reports alleging that he attacked Bola Tinubu, a 2023 governmental aspirant.

Kalu stated his recent interview where he was reported to have stated he would match Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, grit for grit was misunderstood.

In a declaration he provided in Abuja, the previous Abia State Governor, said his comment was twisted to score inexpensive political objectives, NAN reports.

According to Kalu, he is not quarrelling with Tinubu or against his presidential aspiration.

Kalu stated: “We can never attack Tinubu.

“I told Nigerians that I will contest against Tinubu if the ticket is zoned to the South. APC is a democratic celebration that permits every certified member to vote and be elected.

“It is not owned or handled by an individual. It doesn’t imply I assaulted him if I said I was going to contest against Tinubu. I can not assault him for any factor.

“It is unfortunate that few components are attempting to twist my statement to score cheap political objectives. I am not distracted. My friendship with Tinubu is deep-rooted and I am not quarrelling with him.

“I am not against his ambition of becoming the president. It is the option of the party to determine who becomes the governmental candidate.”

Tinubu had last week Monday opened on his 2023 governmental ambition.

The APC National Leader had informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his aspirations to succeed him in workplace.

He kept in mind that contesting for the presidency was his lifelong dream.

The previous governor, however, divulged that he was still talking to relevant stakeholders concerning his aspiration.
