Shooters Storm Nigerian University Campus, Abduct Four Students

File image Some gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted some trainees of Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Daily Trust reports that the students were abducted near to their University campus at Mararaba, near Abuja.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Abubakar Ibrahim, verified the event, explaining that 4 trainees were abducted.

According to him, the shooters stormed the university neighborhood at 11:30 pm on Thursday and blended the trainees to a concealed area.

“The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, on behalf of the management of the institution, expressed his extensive outrage at the unfortunate advancement and condemned it in strong terms and demand for the immediate release of those abducted.”

The Vice-Chancellor was estimated as stating kidnapping of trainees makes up among the most severe hazards to education in Nasarawa State, in particular, and Nigeria in basic.

While expressing his deep sympathy to the families of the abducted students, he assured them that major efforts were being taken to ensure the fast rescue of the victims.

“The Vice-Chancellor, who has because checked out the area where the trainees were abducted, checked out the Nasarawa Police command where he formally informed the Commissioner of Police about the abduction of the students,” the statement added.

The Vice-Chancellor further prompted students to pay more attention to security-related matters and interested them to remain calm and tackle their typical activities.

He hinted that additional steps have been put in place to ensure adequate safety of lives and residential or commercial property within and outside the University.
