AFCON 2021: Brendan Rodgers speaks on Super Eagles, Iheanacho’s goal against Egypt

Leicester City supervisor, Brendan Rodgers, has spoken about Nigeria and the Super Eagles performance in the first Group D game against Egypt in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations

. Nigeria beat the Pharaohs of Egypt 1-0 in their first video game and look all set to beat Sudan in their second game on Saturday.

Rodgers has 2 Nigerians, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi in his Leicester City group and is keeping track of the AFCON proceedings in Cameroon.

Iheanacho scored the only goal of the video game, shooting in a great volley in the 30th minute and Rodgers was generally pleased with the display of the Super Eagles.

Resolving his press conference on Thursday the Northern Irishman was asked how he felt about Iheanacho’s goal and he said,: “It was a fantastic strike.

“I thought Nigeria looked actually excellent, looked truly structured in the video game, great organization and you can see the gamers of quality they have in the team.

“Kelechi has shown over the last twelve to eighteen months he can score goals. Great spin and surface, I’m happy for him.”
