Akwa Ibom govt revokes approval for Outdoor Advertising installations, alerts professionals

Akwa Ibom State federal government on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, ordered the revocation of all the outside marketing setups in the state. The order came in the wake of supposed non-compliance to the revised standards released on January 06, 2021, by the Ministry of Environment by the suppliers. The Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, Mr Charles Udoh who divulged this in a press statement released to journalists in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital said the revocation was with immediate result.

The declaration checks out in parts, “Following the spate of non-compliance with the Revised Guidelines on Outdoor Advertising in Akwa Ibom State, issued on January 6, 2021, by the Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals, all approvals for outside marketing setups are hereby withdrawed with instant effect.”

The Commissioner, nevertheless, ordered Owners of outside marketing structures to abandon the facilities or remove the structure within seven days or risk being blacklisted.

“After the expiration of the notification, structures will be eliminated by the ministry and owners of such structures will be blacklisted. New guidelines will be released in due course. Members of the public and advertising practitioners are pleased enjoined to take note.” The declaration included.
