EPL: ‘I give God glory’ – Ighalo writes farewell letter to Manchester United
Everton boss, Carlo Ancelotti, has said that Frank Lampard did well as Chelsea manager during his time at the West London club.
Ancelotti, who was sacked by Chelsea in the tunnel following a defeat to Everton on the final day of the season in 2011, also said that the club’s reason to sack Lampard as their manager was not enough.
The Italian believes Lampard, his former player at Chelsea, can make a swift return to management soon after he was sacked by Chelsea.
Lampard was sacked on Monday by Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, after he guided the Blues to beat Luton Town 3-1 in the FA Cup fourth round encounter on Sunday.
“It is not unusual that a manager is sacked, Frank Lampard knows this,” Ancelotti said at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of Everton’s Premier League with Leicester City on Wednesday.
“I think my personal opinion is being sacked is part of our job, we have to understand this.
“That is it, I was sacked everywhere, so I have to consider this fact. It is part of our job, Frank will find another opportunity soon, and because he’s a good manager, he did well at Chelsea.
“But I think the reason for the club it was not enough. It is simple. In the end, it is not sad news, close one door and for him, I understand Chelsea was his club, he played for them, for sure he is going to have another opportunity soon.”
Ancelotti added, “Listen, Chelsea is not more difficult than other clubs. It’s the same.
“Every club has expectations, and when things are not how they like, what are they going to do, change 20 players? The easiest way is to change the manager.
“This is what happens in football. All the managers know this. You have to consider this as a part of our job. Nothing more.”
