Troops kill kidnapper, arrests others in Sokoto, Katsina
Nigerian troops of Operation Accord have killed one kidnapper in Garin Arawa of Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops also arrested two suspected kidnappers at Tsembe Kolumbo village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Major General John Enenche, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Enenche, the operation was executed on Monday following credible intelligence.
The statement reads in part: “Troops of Operation ACCORD have intensified the onslaught against criminal elements with attendant successes.
“Following credible intelligence on the presence of kidnappers in Garin Arawa of Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State on 16 November, 2020, troops immediately mobilized to the village and made contact with kidnappers. In the course of the encounter, 1 kidnapper was killed, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
“Items recovered from the operation include 1 AK47 rifle, 1 magazine and one motorcycle.
“In another development, troops deployed at Jibia arrested two suspected kidnappers named Malam Ismail Isah and Malam Sale Samaila at Tsembe Kolumbo village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
“Suspects are currently in custody for further investigation.”
