Court adjourns trial of man arraigned for hacking 2,000 savings account

Justice O. O. Abike-Fadipe of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos State, has actually adjourned the trial of Chris Ihebuzo, who deals with several counts.

Ihebuzo was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in September 2020.

The charges are stealing, requiring home by written hazard, effort to commit a felony, unauthorised access to computer system product, unauthorised adjustment of computer material, and unauthorised gain access to with intent to commit.

In a video, Ihebuzo, a.k.a. “Access Bank hacker”, bragged about accessing into the database and drawing out information of over 2,000 customers, including Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs).

The EFCC stated in August 2020, with intent to obtain money, the offender sent out an e-mail to the bank management, demanding money.

The financial institution petitioned the agency and after an investigation, a seven-count charge was prepared.

Prosecution counsel, Franklin Ofoma, informed the court that several files, HP laptop, discs and chips were recovered from Ihebuzo.

Justice Abike-Fadipe confessed them as Exhibit P7 to P15 and adjourned trial till February 18 and March 11, 2022.
